WVU Cycling is proud to be a part of the WV Road Race Series for the 2nd year now. With the help of JR Petsko and these sponsors.
Sports 'n Spokes

We've tried to add a nice spin with our races by having the road races be the day before a WVMBA MTB race in the same area.

2008 Schedule

• May 10 - Cooper's Road Race, Cooper's Rock, WV | Results | Photos
• June 21 - Tour of Tucker County Road Race, Davis, WV | Pre-Reg
• July 4 - Barbour de Tour, Philippi, WV
• July 5 - St. Albans Grand Prix, St. Albans, WV
• Aug. 2,3 - Mountaineer Stage Race, Philippi, WV
• Sept. 21 - WV State Championship *, Kasson, WV

Series Information

Series Classes // USCF Class:

• Men Cat 1-3
• Men Cat 4-5
• Men Masters 40+
• Women Cat 1-4
• Junior (18 and under)
• Cat 5 (200+ lbs)

Rules:

• To qualify for series championship you must compete in 5 of the 8 events*.
• Each stage of the Mountaineer Stage Race counts as one event.
• Points to be given by finishing order at each event.
• 20 points for 1st, 19 for 2nd, 18 for 3rd and so one.
• Racers finishing outside of the top 20 will be given 1 point for finishing.
• No points will be given for DNS or DNF.

If you're interested in putting on a race next year, even if you have no race promoting expirence, we will be willing to help you. We're offering to permit the race, and provide at least some of the officials needed (saving much money getting an out of state official). We can also provide help with specific answer about promoting and USA Cycling. The ECCC has a very helpful booklet on race promoting. Although it's directed towards collegiate races, much of the information is relavent to all road races. Here is a link.
