Local Rides
WVU Cycling
Morgantown has a very active cycling community with multiple weekly groups rides for both mountain and road bicycles. The range of skill levels for these rides also very greatly.
There are scheduled weekly rides listed below, in addition Country Road Cyclists have scheduled rides that vary all over the north central region of the state, from beginner to advanced riding. MonBikeClub has scheduled rides, but also an active forum where you can find other riders for any day of the week riding of any skill level. (Info on Fairmont Flyers?)
Morgantown has many local areas to ride, great road riding heading into Pennsylvania and East into Preston County. Bakers Ridge is the local mountain bike arena and White Park offers more technical riding with less climbing. Further out of town Coopers Rock State Park offers more intense climbing and overall riding. Big Bear has nationally recognized trails that are very well kept for a small fee. Wisp can offer the down rider a chance to let gravity work for them without having to fight gravity on the way up.
For the BMX rider, white park will offer some, and there is Poor Farm BMX in Fairmont. Poor Farm has practice on Tues and race on Thurs. Bikes can be rented from Pricketts Fort State Park.
